Auroville Ashram
Located on Rue de la Marine, the ashram was set up by Shri Aurobindo Ghosh, who immersed into spirituality and revealed the power of Yoga. It is visited by thousands every year, in search of spiritual salvation. Accompanied by Mirra Alfassa, better known as Mother; the Ashram grew as Auroville, an international township uniting humanity. Main attraction here is Matri Mandir, a Geodesic dome covered with golden discs that reflect sunlight. Puducherry Tourism is incomplete without a visit to this place.
Paradise Beach
The little isolated, this beach is also known as Plage Paradiso and is a popular hangout for shore lovers. It has golden sand and cool breeze is great for relaxation. Take a ferry ride across the backwater which is a 20-30 minutes tour.
French War Memorial
This War Memorial in Puducherry, is dedicated to the French soldiers living in Puducherry, who died in World Wars. Here, one will find a bronze plaque with names of soldiers who died in the First & Second World War; also French War in Indochina and the Algerian War.
Vedapureeswarar Temple
Famous for its Dravidian style architecture, this temple has Lord Shiva as the presiding deity. The lord is worshipped here as Vedapureeswarar alongwith Goddess Parvathi as Tiripurasundari. The temple has a five-tiered rajagopuram and important festivals here are Brahmotsavam, Vaikasi, Aipassi and Sivarathri.
Our Lady of Good Health
The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and has been a pilgrimage for Christians for last 270 years. Some people believe that Virgin Mary appeared in Velankanni, Tamil Nadu in 16th to 17th centuries.
